Here
at Acadiana Karate, we incorporate three specific titles into
our system to distinguish between the experience of our Instructors
within the dojo. Below, a list of the three titles from the
highest of experience to the lowest, the definition of the
title, and the level of experience it refers to here at Acadiana
Karate.
Shihan - Master.
Shihan refers to the Master, or Master Instructor of Acadiana
Karate. Master is the title earned at the earning of one's
5th Dan, or 5th Degree Black Belt. Acadiana Karate is proud
to have Shihan Pablo F. Mejia, as our Master Instructor.
Sensei - Born before.
This title refers to the teachers, or instructors of the school.
Those who hold this title have completed the Instructor Training
Program, and have proven themselves knowledgful enough to
begin teaching classes on their own.
Sempai - Older brother or sister.
Sempai is the title that distinguishes those who have begun,
but have not finished the Instructor Training Program. Sempai's
have been in the school for quite some time and have
proven themselves to be capable of the necessary requirements
to begin training to become a Sensei, or Instructor.
